New Book List ReleaseCafe Reflections: Christchurch City 1975-2012At 12:51pm on 22 February 2011, the city of Christchurch, New Zealand, was destroyed by a devastating 6.3 magnitude earthquake. Deb Donnell was at her desk at work at the time, in her family's jewellery store in the Central Business District. Plunged into darkness, Deb waited for the 150 year old building that she was in to collapse. Fortunately it did not, but when she, her family and co-worker emerged into the street, she saw the devastation the earthquake had wrought in her city. Neighbours, friends, colleagues, other workers and business owners, as well as tourists to the city were as terrified as she was. Cafe Reflections tells the story of Deb, her family, and the Central Business District community from 1975 up until the day of the earthquake, when it was destroyed, and through to the 4 September 2012, the second anniversary of the first 7.1 magnitude Canterbury Earthquake which was a warning of what was to come. The journal sells for US$19.99 and is available through Lulu.com. It gives instructions on how to make the most of journaling, and outlines The Diamond Writing System. The book is spiral bound so it lays flat when you are writing, and contains enough pages to last a month. Please note: Sometimes you have to spend a little more than you would like to find the perfect notebook for your journal, but here’s my challenge to you: write something in it that is of equal to or greater value than the cost of this notebook!
